We are visiting the Phoenix area from out of town and wanted to get a few pickleball games in, so we chose The Picklr Tempe based on their description of Open Play. Unfortunately, our experience was nothing like what was advertised. Their website describes Open Play as a way to meet players, rotate through doubles games, partner with a variety of people, and enjoy minimal downtime. That did not happen during our visit. If you didn’t arrive with your own foursome, it felt nearly impossible to get into games. This is especially disappointing for traveling pickleball players. Most of us don’t pack three friends in our suitcase! We came hoping to play, rotate, and meet other playersβ€”the whole purpose of Open Play. Instead, we left disappointed. The facility itself may be great, but if you’re visiting from out of town and coming alone or as a couple, be aware that the Open Play experience may not be what you expect based on the website description. I wish we had known before going.

The facilities are clean and well maintained, and the staff are friendly and courteous. However, my experience has been consistently frustrating when it comes to getting questions answered. Nearly every time I ask a staff member for assistance, they're happy to engage and are very polite, but the response is almost always, "I don't know, I was not trained for that." It often seems that only one person knows the answer, but that individual is unavailable, and there is rarely an offer to follow up or connect me with someone who can help. This has become an ongoing issue. It is now the second year in a row that my family has tried to purchase a gift card for me for Father's Day, and multiple family members also attempted to buy one as a Christmas gift. Each time, they were unable to complete the purchase because no one available knew how to process a gift card transaction. Now I have a gift card that was purchased through Sam's Club, and once again, no one seems to know how to help me apply it to my account. I keep being told that only someone named Eli can assist, but Eli is never available. Instead, I'm told to come back another time or call again later and hope I happen to reach

The facility is a well maintained good place to play, with well-maintained courts. The rally club is especially enjoyable. That said, I’ve had some frustrating conversations with management in the past regarding membership and additional charges. The front desk staff can be helpful, although the experience tends to vary depending on who is working.

Great facility, super clean facility and really nice courts. I came solo on a Tuesday to open play and played great games for 2 hours. Highly recommended!

Very nice place. Grand opening yesterday on 11/16. Nice courts with lots of room. Staffs were friendly and polite. The membership includes 4 clinics a month and 4 guest passes. Plus, you can go to any Picklr nationwide when you are out of town.
